Self assessment

The term 'self-assessment' is proving to be one of the greatest misnomers of all time! Many taxpayers struggle to understand the complex self assessment forms and fail to complete them correctly. Taxpayers are then penalised for making mistakes on these forms or returning them after the statutory deadline. Late partnership returns attract a £100 penalty for each partner.

So what should you do?

First, do not panic.  Then contact R A Clement Associates to arrange a time to bring in your financial information and leave the rest to us.

It may be called "self assessment" but our accounts professionals are best placed to complete the return using the information you provide.

Do we just complete the form and leave it at that?

No, of course not, we will do all the necessary computations, complete your return and offer advice on how to minimise your tax liability.

We can also represent you at meetings with HM Customs & Revenue if you are unfortunate enough to be selected for a self-assessment enquiry, see Tax Investigation Insurance. In other words we can save you time, money and a lot of worry by acting as your agent and dealing directly with HM Revenue & Customs on your behalf.
