Very early on Thursday, 11th August, partner Andy Newiss and Gaynor Anglesea travelled from Oban to catch the ferry to the Islay Agricultural Show. It was a bit breezy on arrival but we managed to peg down our tent before it could fly us back to the mainland. We enjoyed meeting existing clients, friends and even people with the potential to become new clients! Visiting Islay also allowed us to catch up with recent developments and new initiatives on the island.
We ran a very popular, free competition where visitors put their details into a hat for the chance to win a bottle of Ardbeg 10 year old single malt or pink champagne and chocolates. The whisky was won by David Protherough of Re-JIG and the champagne and chocolates by Rae McIntyre of Knowes Farm, Lochwinnoch. Well done to the winners and sorry to everyone else.
We did of course meet several people we knew from Islay (and Oban) and Gaynor finally got to meet the ladies of the Islay Quilters group. We gave away as many hessian bags as we could so that tourists and locals would not need to use plastic bags anymore, thereby saving the planet and advertising our services!
