The new tax year started on 6 April 2004 and shortly you will need to renew your claim for 2004-05 Tax Credits. You will still receive payments while the Inland Revenue renew your award but you should not delay renewing once your pack has arrived. The deadline for renewal is 30th September so make sure that you have all the information required well in advance of this date. You need to be able to work out your income for 2003-04 in order to renew. To do this you need your last payslip or P60 for the tax year 2003-04, any receipts and records for childcare costs, and, if you are self employed, your business profit.
The Government will send out Annual Review Packs in stages between April and July. If you need help with renewing, there is a Tax Credits Helpline. It is open from 8am to 8pm every day including weekends and the phone number is 0845 300 3900. There is also a list of “Frequently Asked Questions” (FAQs) on the Government Tax Credit Web Site at http://www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/renewals/index.htm
NOTE: Your payments will stop if your renewal is not completed before 30th September 2004.
You can also renew online by visiting https://www.taxcredits.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/HomeIR.aspx You will be asked to register before you can login and renew your claim.
