ICT Technician
R A Clement Associates have a vacancy for a suitably qualified ICT Technician to join the ICT department in the Oban office.
The Role - To work with the ICT Manager providing advice, assistance and support to users of the firm’s local and wide-area networks. The ICT department undertakes maintenance and development of the networking infrastructure, servers, PCs and printers. The ICT department also manages the firm’s telephone systems, mobile and smart phones and tablet computers. Ethernet networks, Microsoft operating systems and Office applications are used to underpin the accounting, book-keeping and payroll systems; these are critical to the firm’s operations.
In addition to the partners and staff of R A Clement Associates, the ICT department also provides support services to external clients. The work will involve occasional travel to the firm’s offices in Tobermory and Fort William. Some work at weekends and outwith the normal office hours of 09:00 to 1700 will be necessary from time to time. The nature of the technology may demand attendance to other sites at short notice or late working if required. The post will be based in Oban and is a full time, permanent position, subject to a three month probationary period
The Applicant - An experienced ICT technician or newly qualified computer studies graduate seeking to widen their horizons beyond single server networks to more complex infrastructures, containing multiple servers and depending on wide-area networks. Microsoft or Cisco certification would be an advantage in this position, although experienced candidates without formal ICT qualifications will not be discounted. Programming and web development skills will be less important than an ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex systems in a methodical and orderly manner. Experience with Dell, HP and Cisco hardware would be beneficial as would an understanding of Microsoft Active Directory administration and server applications (e.g. SQL Server , Microsoft Exchange, Sharepoint Server).
Applicants should be physically fit and able to lift and carry equipment of up to 20kg. An effective telephone manner and good writing skills will be needed in order to pass on knowledge and advice to users with varying skill levels. A full UK driving licence will be essential.
